Allergan to take over Kythera who makes Kybella for the neck.<\/h1>\n

Here’s an open letter I got from Allergan (the makers of Botox):<\/p>\n

Dear Aesthetic Provider:<\/p>\n

I am delighted to share with you that on June 16, 2015 Allergan and Kythera Biopharmaceuticals reached a definitive agreement under which Allergan will acquire Kythera. Kythera, headquartered in Westlake Village, CA, is focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of novel prescription aesthetic products.<\/p>\n

The acquisition of Kythera would immediately enhance Allergan\u2019s facial aesthetics portfolio with the addition of KYBELLA\u2122 (deoxycholic acid) injection, the first and only approved non-surgical treatment for contouring moderate to severe submental fullness commonly referred to as a double chin. KYBELLA\u2122 was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on April 29, 2015.<\/p>\n

This combination continues Allergan\u2019s rich history of bringing innovation to you and your patients. KYBELLA\u2122 will join a facial aesthetics offering which includes BOTOX\u00ae, JUV\u00c9DERM\u00ae, VOLUMA, LATISSE\u00ae and SKINMEDICA providing you with a more complete offering of products to your patients. In addition, KYBELLA is a pivotal entry point for expanding the use of facial aesthetic products in men.<\/p>\n

We are committed to keeping you informed as the combination of Allergan and KYTHERA progresses and are committed to working with you to ensure a smooth transition. We would expect that this acquisition will be completed by the third quarter of 2015.
